A Guide to Welcome Meetings

A Welcome Meeting is an introductory meeting that requires both the student and a parent/guardian to be present if the student is under the age of 18. During this meeting, the instructor gives the student access to the course, explains course navigation, helps students establish goals for the course, reviews VLACS policies and procedures, and answers questions.


To schedule a welcome meeting, students must open the instructor's welcome email and click the link to the instructor's appointment calendar. Students should select a date close to the day that they plan to start working in the course. Once the meeting is scheduled, students will receive an automated confirmation email. Students who do not receive a confirmation within an hour of scheduling their welcome meeting should contact their instructor. If none of the appointment times listed on the instructor’s scheduling calendar work, students should email their instructors for another option.


The Welcome Meeting happens in the instructor's online classroom. The link for the meeting is in the scheduling confirmation email. To access the meeting, students and parents/guardians will need to have
